Who are We?

The PTA is made up of parents, carers and school staff throughout the school.

There is a core committee with assigned roles, these are nominated and voted for at the AGM.

What do we do?

The main objective of the PTA is to help maintain a sense of community within the school, organising fun activities for the children and at the same time raising money that can be put back into the school.

This is achieved by putting on various events during the school year, including gift days for Mother's Day and Father's Day, along with seasonal events at Easter and Christmas as well as the Summer Fete.

Each year, the PTA is able to make significant purchases for the benefit of children throughout the school.

How can you get involved?

There is an Annual General Meeting (AGM) held during the school year.

This is held during the school year. This is held every year to elect the key members of the committee and to inform others of previous and future activities. It is an opportunity for people to receive copies of PTA accounts as well as reviewing fiscal information for the past year and asking any questions regarding the directions the PTA will take in the future. It is the most formal of the meetings held and is open to anyone who wishes to attend. It's a great opportunity to find out what's going on and also for you to share your ideas.

More informal meetings are held throughout the school year to discuss and organise upcoming events. Anyone is welcome to attend who wishes to find out what the PTA are doing. If you feel able to attend regularly then your input and enthusiasm would be greatly appreciated.

We fully appreciate that people have busy lives, and many of you are juggling work and family commitments, the PTA values any involvement. Some PTA members are able to commit a significant amount of time to arranging planned events whilst others are happy to help out 'on the day'.

Any assistance or contribution is welcome. Involvement from parents and carers is crucial to the PTA's existence, effectiveness and continuation.

The committee members include:

  • CHAIR: Chairs the meetings of the committee. Organises and coordinates the PTA's activities, by setting meetings agendas.
  • VICE CHAIR: Assists the chairperson and serves as chair in the absence of the nominated chair.
  • SECRETARY: Takes minutes of the meetings, prepare the agendas. Liaises with school to organise meetings and correspondence.
  • TREASURER: Reports to the committee the financial status of the PTA. Keeps accurate records and supporting documentation to provide a level of details that provides a clear audit trail for all transactions.

In addition to these key roles, the PTA consists of many parent and carer volunteers who give whatever time and skills they can to help plan, prepare and run the different events. Involvement can vary from shopping for suppliers, stock taking, setting up tables, selling tickets, being present on the day, or just informing people of upcoming events and encouraging them to take part.
