May 2022 Newsletter

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have enjoyed another fun-filled half term in school, including a grand celebration to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee. Through the past week, the children have been baking biscuits to enjoy at our street party, learning a dance to perform together and decorating a commemorative plate not to mention learning all about the Queen and her legacy.

Jubilee Junior Bake Off

On Wednesday 25th May children were invited to bring in their entries for a baking competition. We had over a hundred entries which is a remarkable number of cupcakes, biscuits or cakes! We would like to thank all parents/carers for supporting the children with such fantastic entries! In fact, they were so good that it was incredibly difficult to choose the winners. Photographs of the winning cakes are on our Facebook page and school blog along with some photographs of some of the other entries. Every pupil who took part in the competition received a certificate. In all, the cake sale raised £651 which is a phenomenal amount. Thank you for your support.

Jubilee Street Party

Also on Wednesday 25th May, the children enjoyed a street party in the school playground, eating biscuits and drinking squash. We raised a toast to her Majesty and sang the national anthem. Finally, we all joined together to perform our celebratory dance. It was great to see everyone joining in and having a good time. A big thank you to the staff and pupils who assisted in getting all the tables and chairs outside and then back in again!

Jubilee Commemorative Plates

Each child will have brought home a ceramic commemorative plate with the Queen’s official logo which they have decorated with acrylic paint.  Please beware that the plates are for decorative purposes only and should not be washed. We hope that the children have enjoyed painting them and keep them for many years to come as a memento.

 School Photos

On Monday 16th May the children had their individual school photos taken. Your child would have brought home their photo ticket earlier this week. We hope you are pleased with the photos. If you wish to place an order, these must be made online. You need to scan the QR code on your smartphone camera to enter the Kittles website then enter your Photo ID and Password or alternatively, go to www.Kittleorders.com  and enter Photo ID and Password. The school will not be collecting any money as orders cannot be placed through the school this time.

Should you have any problem ordering online please contact Kittle Photographic on 01245 401313.

Clubs

The next set of after school clubs will start after the Half Term Holiday. Payment for our clubs is payable via your 'trips and offers' purse in your child's squid account.  If your child was successful in gaining a place you would have been asked to pay the fee before the club begins. Unfortunately, we are unable to allow any child to attend a club unless payment has been made beforehand. We have now had to update our Term & Conditions as we have been experiencing a lot of difficulty recently due to individuals who register an interest for a club and then change their mind. As our clubs are over subscribed,, if your child was allocated a place you will now be liable for the cost. We therefore, kindly ask that before registering an interest in a club that you discuss this with your child and ensure that they definitely wish to attend.  As you can appreciate, it takes a considerable amount of organisation and time to ensure that the service runs smoothly and efficiently. Unfortunately, if we continue to experience these difficulties, we may have to limit the number of clubs or spaces available.
