Dear Parents/Carers,

King’s Coronation Junior Bake Off

Thank you to all parents/carers for supporting our Coronation celebrations. We had lots of fantastic entries to our Junior Bake Off Competition and it was very difficult selecting the winners! The children had a great time buying their cakes and playing games.  Hopefully, it will be a day that they remember! In total we raised £1157.90, which is an incredible amount. All the money raised will go towards the continued development of our school garden. Our new apple trees have now been ordered and we hope to have them planted after half term.

Sports Day

It was great to see so many of you at our sports day on Wednesday. We were blessed with a lovely sunny day. The children had a great time taking part in all the events and eating their ice lollies on their return to school. They also enjoyed watching some of the adults take part in the teachers’ and parents’ race – thank you to all those who volunteered! l would also like to say a big thank you to Mrs Chestnutt for organising such a successful event.

Congratulations to those in Redgrave house who are the winners of this year’s Sports Day.

School Garden

Our school garden is thriving. The children have been involved in planting a variety of fruits and vegetables and some of these are now ready to harvest. The cooking club this week had the opportunity to use some of our rhubarb to make some delicious crumble. The grapes in our biodome appear to be growing well and we expect some of our strawberries and raspberries to be ready to be picked by the end of next month. Please have a look at our school blog to see what else we are growing and the progress of our plants. A big thank you to Mrs Ali, Mrs Day and the school gardening club for their efforts in looking after our plants.

School Mosaic

Thank you to all children who submitted entries for our school mosaic, they were really impressive! We have submitted in the final design to the mosaics company and we look forward to working with the artists next half term to put the mosaic together. We hope to have the grand unveiling before the end of the school year.

Local History Week

This week the children have enjoyed learning about the history of the local area and have learned lots of interesting facts about the history of Hornchurch, Romford and even some fascinating facts about what the school was like in years gone by from a previous student at the school. A big thank you to Miss Weller for organising such an interesting week!
