March 2023 Newsletter
Dear Parents/Carers,
Havering Drum and Trumpet Corps
Today, the children enjoyed a visit from the Havering Drum and Trumpet Corps. Pupils had an opportunity to try out a variety of instruments and learn all about marching bands. We would like to thank Mrs Lane, one of our parents, for her help in arranging the visit. The children had a fantastic time!
Science Week
It was lovely to see so many parents in school recently for Science Week. The children loved having parents in school and I know that the staff really appreciated the extra help too! The investigations involved lots of collaboration, communication and creativity which are important skills for budding scientists!
Thank you to all pupils who took part in our science fair. We saw some really well researched and well thought out science projects. Congratulations to the winners in each year group who each received a prize for their efforts.
London Marathon Fundraiser
Some of you may be aware that Jon Evans, dad to Harrison in Year 3, is taking part in the London Marathon in April to raise money for both the Infant and Junior School. We are really grateful to Jon for thinking of us and supporting both schools. The children will be creating cards, banners and videos to show their appreciation. The money raised will go towards further projects and opportunities for the children to enjoy. If you are able to contribute, we would appreciate your support – remember every little bit helps!
Parent Survey
Thank you to those parents who completed our online parent survey. Your comments and feedback are appreciated. If you have not yet had the opportunity to share your views, you may do us by following this link https://forms.gle/xSBBN32m47cjz1GB8

If you are struggling with school uniform, please let a member of staff know, as the school may be able to assist.
Attendance
We hope that the warmer weather will also help to improve the children’s health and well-being. However, if your child is unwell and they are unable to come to school, please remember to contact the office on the first day of absence. We kindly ask that all other absence is avoided as much as possible. Thank you for your co-operation.
Clubs
The next set of after school clubs will start after the Easter Holidays. If your child has been allocated a space and then decides that they do not want to attend or is unable to attend for any reason please let the school office know as soon as possible. As most of our clubs are oversubscribed could we please request that you only sign your child up for a club that you are sure they wish to attend. If you have received confirmation that your child has been allocated a space please ensure payment is made via sQuid before 17th April to secure the place.
End of term reports
The children brought home their end of term reports on Thursday. We hope these reports give you further information about how your child is performing in school. If you have any questions about any of the contents in the report, please get in touch with your child’s teacher via the school office.
On behalf of everyone here at Squirrels Heath Juniors, we hope that you have a lovely break and we look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Monday 17th April.
