December 2021 Newsletter
Dear Parents/Carers,
We have come to the end of a busy term in school. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all staff for the care and support you have provided to the children and have demonstrated to one another. Once again it has been a challenging time in schools and in wider society but you have all gone out of your way to ensure that the children always come first. Thank you for your hard work, I hope you all have a well-deserved break!
I would also like to thank the children. The staff and I have been really impressed with your enthusiasm. From your behaviour in lessons and work in exercise books to your participation in extra-curricular activities and kindness to one another, we have been amazed by your efforts. Keep up the great work everyone!
Lastly, I would like to thank parents and carers for the encouragement you have given to the children over the past term and also for working with the staff to ensure that your children are well supported and ready to learn. We understand that being a parent is not easy, thank you for everything you do!
Fond Farewell
Unfortunately, we must say a sad farewell to some members of staff. Miss Bryant will be moving to a school closer to her new home in Essex and Mr Lyons is relocating to be with his family in Canada. On behalf of the school community, I would like to thank them for their service to the school and wish them well in their future endeavours.
Christmas Bazaar
Thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas bazaar which raised an amazing amount of just over £2,500! The children had a delightful day and really enjoyed visiting the stalls in the hall to purchase items and play games. Many of the children also visited Father Christmas in his Grotto. If you haven’t seen the photos on our school website or blog, I would encourage you to have a look. A big thank you to Mr Robinson, our assistant school keeper. Santa’s visit would not have been possible without him!
Christmas Carol Singing
Thank you to those of you who attended our Christmas Carol singing in the playground on Monday and Tuesday this week. It was lovely to see everyone and to hear the children singing once again. It certainly helped to share some much needed Christmas cheer.
End of term reports
This week, the children will receive their end of term report. Pupils who are currently isolating will receive their report at the start of next term. We hope these reports give you further information about how your child is performing in school. If you have any questions about any of the contents in the report, please get in touch with your child’s teacher via the school office.
School App
We are pleased to see that many of you have already downloaded our new free school App. Once you have installed the App you are able to receive notifications from us to remind you of upcoming events, view the school calendar, news, letters and even report your child's absence. The App also has a link to our school website and the office e-mail and helps parents to access key information quickly.

Contact Information
Please ensure that you inform the school office as soon as possible if you change your mobile number or e-mail address. It is very important that we are able to communicate information to you, especially in case of emergency.
On behalf of the staff at Squirrels Heath Junior school, I would like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and hope that you are all able to enjoy some quality time with your families over the holidays. We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on the 5th of January and seeing you all in the new year. Until then, take care and stay safe.
